iCalc - $5
iCalc is a replacement desktop calculator for Apple's "original recipe" Calculator provided with MacOS System software. The features of iCalc are the same as the original Calculator, with the exception that results in the iCalc display are "drag-and-drop" functional. Meaning, you can drag the results to other drap-and-drop applications, or to the desktop to make a clipping - cool!
iCalc was designed to reflect the look of the iMac itself, and is [but of course] available in the 5 "fruit" flavors, plus the original Bondi. So, if you purchased your iMac to flaunt your great sense of style, why not have a stylish calculator to match?
iCalc looks best in "Thousands of Colors" or more. It will work in 8-bit color depth, but since all iMacs support thousands of colors, and it just looks better that way, that’s the main purpose of iCalc. ;-)
iCalc was developed under MacOS 8.6, but should run on System 7.5 or later.
iCalc runs best with the application default 960K RAM allocated for the PPC version (1376K for the 68K version).
The PPC version is a larger application size, yet takes less RAM than the 68K version, so it's best to download the version best suited to your system.
While the RAM requirements are somewhat stiff for the 68K version, if you don’t yet have a colorful, translucent computer to behold, at least a small portion of your screen can look like you do. The 68K version runs well on PPC, but has not been extensively tested on 68K systems. Perhaps the RAM requirements would be different when actually running on a 68K system.
iCalc is US$5 shareware. If you continue to use the program, please consider paying for it. The program will not expire if you do not register, but registering will help entice Sideways Design to continue to produce other applications.
